Isolation Protocol
A downloadable game for Windows
My entry for the 11th GoedWare Game Jam.
The theme was: "ISOLATION".
I tried to convert that into a tactical turn-based game were the characters are isolated on a desolate Space Station.
Story
In the not-so-distant future, humanity has extended its reach into the stars. The space station 'Aegis', orbiting a distant and uninhabited planet, represents one of humanity's farthest outposts. Captain Doe, Chief Engineer Kassia, and Dr. Anderson are part of a small, specialized team stationed on Aegis, tasked with researching alien ecosystems. Their mission takes an unexpected turn when they discover a dormant strand of alien DNA on the planet's surface, believed to hold secrets to unprecedented biological adaptations.
As they transport the DNA back to Aegis for safe study, something goes terribly wrong. The DNA isn't as dormant as they thought. It awakens, infects the station's ecosystem, and begins mutating the station’s crew into hostile alien forms. Isolated in deep space, with communication to Earth cut off by the infection's interference, the trio finds themselves alone, trapped, and hunted in what once was their place of research and refuge.
Faced with a dire situation, the station’s initiates the "Isolation Protocol", a last-resort safety measure to prevent contaminated individuals or objects from leaving the quarantine zone. Captain Doe, Dr. Anderson, and Engineer Kassia must complete three critical objectives to ensure the safety of Earth and the survival of humanity’s outreach into space:
- Destroy the Station and All Aliens: Using their combined skills, they must navigate through the compromised sections of Aegis, setting up the necessary systems to enhance the destruct sequence, ensuring no trace of the alien infection remains.
- Secure the Alien DNA They Retrieved: Understanding the potential and dangers of the alien DNA, Dr. Anderson insists on preserving a sample. Safely encapsulating this volatile genetic material requires accessing the high-security biolab, now overrun with transformed crew members.
- Use the Escape Pods to Escape Back to Earth: The final challenge is to reach and manually activate the escape pods. The pods have been locked down as part of the Isolation Protocol, and accessing them means braving the most heavily infested areas, all while being uncertain if they've been exposed to the pathogen.
As they race against time, the crew must rely on stealth and strategy. Each corridor and room on Aegis could hold either the tools needed for their survival or untold dangers.
Controls
Almost everything: Mouse
Camera movement/rotation : WASD / Arrow Keys + Q & E (rotate), MouseWheel to zoom
Pause Game: Escape
Short-cuts: See the tooltips in the game (hover)
Prototype
The game is just a prototype. Not everything works as expected and planned. Time constraints of a game jam 😊. For example there should be multiple endings but no time to test them all... Maybe you can achieve some of them... Let me know!
Still hope you enjoy the effort!!
* I can not win any prices during the Game Jam as Host, but I would appreciate any feedback on the game😊!

The game is super interesting, it looks good, it has retro tones and appropriate sounds (a little loud). It feels very good to play it, the large number of controls and ways to do the same action makes the player feel satisfied, good human-computer work.
Thank you for playing and the positive feedback :-)!
Was indeed messing around with the volume of sounds and music. Probably needs some extra finetuning next time. Good tip 👍.
Have you heard of audio management with Scriptables Objects? I did it in my project and I thought it was great to control the audios only with assets from the project and not have to enter scenes. I think I still have to make the component more robust to make it scalable and functional.
I have heard about it, but I used Master Audio 2022 asset for Unity to manage all my sounds in this project.
I got it in a bundle once and is also really cool tool and I think they might also use Scriptable Objects in their code itself. You can also set a lot of values like dB and such (which I should have done better ;-) ) and buses and mixer etc.
But if you have made a nice reusable component that does the job very well that is definitely something to stick with and use. Plus maybe even share or publish it (Asset Store) when more robust and scalable.
Good tools are always welcome for Unity Developers :-)!
I haven't thought about raising assets. But I'll definitely take a look at Master Audio for ideas. Currently I only control random audios, dB and channels. I might have more ideas. Thanks for the input! a hug.
You're welcome :-)!!
the game made Nortom go crazzy
Should be false positives... Nothing found be defender or malwarebytes and as host would be not wise to send bad files into our jam..
I am trying a gen and get the same results
